This is how It's Chore Time handles family data. It is this site's policy, not personalized legal advice.
The site
It's Chore Time is the family chore and allowance web app at https://itschoretime.com. A parent runs the household. Kids check off lists and see what they have earned.
Accounts
A parent creates the account with their name, email, and a password. We store the password hashed (Argon2id, or bcrypt if the server cannot use Argon2id). Parents can turn on an authenticator app as a second step at sign-in.
Kids do not get email accounts. They unlock with the family code plus their own 4–6 digit code. We store that kid code hashed, not as plain digits. There is no app store app to install.
What we store
We keep the household data a parent enters so the lists and money picture work:
- chore lists and completions
- the allowance ledger in integer cents
- household schedule, including two-house weeks
- an optional co-parent invite email
- goal names and similar family data the parent types in
We do not take file uploads. There are no ads. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and IPs
We set HttpOnly session cookies for a parent, a kid, and a short-lived operator session. On HTTPS those cookies are marked Secure.
IP addresses are stored hashed, not raw, so we can rate-limit abuse and bind sessions. We do not keep the original address.
When mail is on, we may send:
- a welcome message after a parent creates a family
- a password reset
- a co-parent invite
- chore and payout notices
- an optional evening nudge or Monday weekly recap, if the site's scheduled job is running
Hosting and support
The site is hosted on Hostinger. People who operate the platform may view a family to help with support. That view-as mode is look-only. They may pause or lock a family.
Children
It's Chore Time is meant for families. The parent or guardian is the customer. We do not market to children. Kid mode has no email, no social features, and no public profile.
Copies and deletion
Email hello@itschoretime.com to ask for a copy of a household or to delete it. A signed-in parent can also download a copy from Settings → Export.
