It's Chore Time
Menu

For real households — one house or two

It's chore time.Then they earn.

Kids finish the basics. Paid jobs light up. Each parent only owes what was earned at their house.

Already have one? Parent sign in. Kids unlock with the family code and their own code — no email, no tiny type.

The deal

Three beats. Then the evening is quieter.

01

Set tonight’s house

A typical week, plus tap-to-override. Paid chores credit that house’s parent — and only that parent.

02

Basics first

Unpaid jobs are the gate. When they’re done, paid chores light up and the kid can earn. No shortcuts.

03

Pay what’s fair

Payouts unlock after $50 kept. You pay your own line. Changing who is primary later does not rewrite the past.

A kitchen table with a tablet checklist, a jar of coins, a gold star, and a backpack.

Night one

A kid, two codes, a list they can finish tonight.

Register sends you to add a kid. Pick the younger list (four basics, three paid jobs) or the full starter. You write down the family code plus their own code — we do not email those.

  • Print an unlock card for the fridge. Huge type. Codes you just set print in full. The guides cover the rest of the week.
  • Add another kid from that same screen. Invite a co-parent if the week splits.
  • Kids unlock with both codes. No email, no app store, no tiny type.

For parents

Tonight’s house. What you owe. A fridge print for the kitchen.

The parent home is calm on purpose. You see who is where, what you currently owe, and whether basics are done — without turning the month into a scoreboard.

  • Fairness is a monthly snapshot. Nobody won. Nobody lost.
  • Invite one co-parent. Handoff notes and a packing list for switch day.
  • Evening nudge if basics are still open. Weekly digest on Monday.
  • Complete, undo, or excuse from the parent side — including a past-day chore log.

Tonight’s list

Required basics unlock paid. Yesterday stays yesterday.

On each kid’s page you pick which unpaid jobs are required to unlock paid. Extra assigned basics stay on Plan — still there, not the gate. Drag the order. Excuse basics for one day if you need to.

  • Past days on the chore log keep the list from that day. Later edits do not rewrite Tuesday.
  • A deleted chore still shows as a ghost if they already checked it off.
  • Add a one-night job from the log when something extra comes up.

For kids

Big buttons. A list they can actually finish.

Kids unlock with the family code and their own code. No email. No tiny type. One job at a time, with a progress ring and a little confetti when it lands.

  • Basics on the left. Paid on the right — locked until today’s basics are done.
  • Streaks from day one, gold at seven. Personal badges for the first wins.
  • Goal jars for something they’re saving toward. Money this week, in kid language.
  • Optional sibling race: each kid races their own list. See the kids’ board.
  • A kitchen kiosk on a tablet when a parent is around.

I’m a kid

A sage checkbox bursting with gold coins, stars, and confetti.

Optional · two or more kids

Race your own list. Not each other.

Turn on sibling race in Settings. On the kid page, they see a basics race and who earned today — each against their own chores. Finish your basics and it says you did it. When the whole house is done, everyone gets all-clear. Nobody wears a loser crown.

Two kids each holding their own checked-off list, gold sparkles around them.
  • Each kid fills a bar on their basics. Paid money is a separate list: today, this week, or this month.
  • If basics are excused, that kid sits out. They don’t get dinged, and they don’t “win” by skipping.
  • The same strip shows up on the kitchen kiosk, so the race stays honest when someone taps a name on the fridge tablet.

Two-house families

Two homes. One list. Money that doesn’t get tangled.

When kids split the week, chores follow tonight’s house. Completing a paid job credits that house’s parent. The other parent is untouched — even if you change who is primary later.

Two neighboring houses at dusk, a backpack on the sidewalk between them, a coin jar on one porch and a star on the other.

Each parent only owes what was earned at their house.

  • Typical week plus date overrides, or an optional two-week custody rotation.
  • Handoff notes the kids actually see. A packing list for switch day.
  • Fairness stays a calm snapshot — not a contest about who did more.

Money

Save, spend, donate — a picture of the same pile.

There aren’t extra wallets to keep in sync. The open balance is the truth. Save / spend / donate is how it looks, not three hidden accounts. Goal jars fill from that same unpaid pile, and drop when you pay out.

  • Payouts stay locked until the kid has kept $50 earned — then you pay what you still owe.
  • If a paid chore gets unchecked, the money comes off the tab, so it matches what’s still marked done.
  • Kids see a payout bar and this week’s list. Parents see a readable history.
Three glass jars of gold coins: one with a sprout, one with a tiny scooter, one with a heart token.

Kitchen and the rest of the week

A tablet on the counter. A print on the fridge. Pay when they ask.

A shared tablet, a paper list, and a Pay chip on Home — so tonight happens in the kitchen, not only on a parent’s phone.

Fridge

Print the week

A one-page checklist with boxes. Pencil works. Unlock card prints the family code huge, plus write-in blanks for older PINs.

Kid money

Ask to get paid

Kids tap Ask on their money page. It lands on parent Home as a Pay chip. Payouts still wait for the $50 kept mark.

Goal jars

Reached, then keep

Jars fill from the unpaid pile. Full jars move to Goals reached. Keep one after a payout so it doesn’t vanish.

Kid mode

Quiet hours

Park kid screens in a window, even overnight. Completions still settle after midnight. Separate from pause kid mode.

Home

Praise from the card

A one-line praise on the kid card. They see it on Today. Pay what’s unlocked from the same card, with how you paid.

Phone

Add to the home screen

Kid Today can sit on the home screen so they don’t hunt for the site tomorrow. Kitchen kiosk stays awake on a tablet.

Good questions

Straight answers.

Is it free?

Yes during early access. No credit card. We will say so on this site before any household is charged.

Do I have to confirm my email?

Yes. After you create a family we email a confirm link so password resets and notices can reach you. You can still add a kid and run tonight before you click it.

Is this for kids, or for parents?

The parent or guardian is the customer. They create the family. Kids unlock with two codes — no email, no public profile, no ads. See Privacy, including the children’s section.

Can parents add two-factor sign-in?

Yes. It’s optional, in Settings. After your password, sign-in asks for a 6-digit authenticator code. Kid unlock stays family code plus their own PIN.

How do kids get in?

Two codes: the family code, plus each kid’s own 4–6 digit code. No email, no app store, no tiny type. You set a kid’s code on their page, and you can change it later if it leaks.

Do the Basic (unpaid) chores pay anything?

No. Basics never pay. They are the gate. Paid jobs stay locked until that day’s basics are done (or excused).

We split the week across two houses. Does this work?

Yes. That’s a first-class setup. Tonight’s house comes from the typical week, with tap-to-override and an optional two-week rotation. Each parent only pays what was earned at their house.

When can we pay out?

After the kid has kept $50 earned (configurable). You pay your own open balance. Paying yours does not change the other parent’s line.

Can I still put a list on the fridge?

Yes. There’s a one-page week print: daily jobs as checkboxes, weekly jobs listed once. Pencil works. So does the kitchen kiosk.

What happens the first night?

After you create a family you’re sent to add a kid. Pick a younger list or the full starter, set their code, write both codes down, and optionally print the unlock card. You can add another kid from that screen. The full walkthrough is in the family setup guide — also a downloadable PDF.

If I change the chores, does last Tuesday change too?

No. Today uses the live list. When the day rolls over, that day’s list is kept. Reorder, Not required, add, or delete later does not rewrite a past chore log.

Tonight

Make this the first night it actually happens.

Create a family in a minute. Add a kid. Give them their code. Basics first — then they earn.
